NACHOOO

I’m Jessica and this blog is about photos I take, things I make and places I go.

This post is about Texmexican food I eat with my boyfriend.

So we were walking up and down Kings Road no less, and we were hungry because we’d only had like Sunny D and a croissant. But everywhere was overpriced and overpopulated and turns out there’s not much variety for places to eat in Chelsea. Unless you love froyo. There’s a lot of froyo.

Some background info: my boyfriend and I are kind of, how you say, connoisseurs in Mexican cuisine – we eat nachos alllll the time. Sometimes (when we’re feeling edgy and hungry) we like to add in some sour cream, maybe a few jalapeño chili peppers on top of the standard cheese and salsa. Of this art we are masters. So bearing this in mind I suddenly remembered a place I’d passed on the bus a few weeks prior to this hungry predicament.

It’s on the way to Hammersmith and Shepherds Bush and, a far cry from Kings Road (it’s neighbours include Fulham Chicken Hut and a Subway), but it caught my little eye. It’s Guaca and with it’s Mexican/Texican cantina it fills a substantial gap in the food market. Fills it with tequila and bbq wings.

Another thing about this venue is the people who work there are so nice. It’s not just service with a smile, it’s service with a sombrero and complimentary nachos and guacamole. And as a side note, I don’t usually like guacamole, but this avo paste was something else.

After that we went to see Five Year Engagement and it was good but I didn’t like the script. I know that sounds all pretentious and like what would I know? Still didn’t like it. But it was quirky and funny and had a Sesame Street reference scene and I love Jason Segel. Though I was suprised to see he dumped Lily? I mean, I thought they’d be togethether forever.
